Sports therapy has in particular developed over the last decade out of a need for both injury treatment, management and prevention, amongst people partaking in sporting activity.

It is designed to help sports people through the rigours of injury by administering of various techniques and careful therapy management back to full fitness.

First used by Professional Athletes to improve performance and avoid injury, it has now become popular and widespread and is seen by many active people as an important part of their sporting lives.

Whilst traditionally sports injury treatment is seen as a reactionary process, Sports Therapy is designed to extend beyond this providing a much more pro-active treatment.

It is also about advice in particular on exercise therapy both before, during and after injury.

Treatments

Sports Injury

A combination of traditional and complementary therapy is used to include a full consultation, posture analysis, active and passive movement testing.

Certain massage techniques are employed, if appropriate, as well as the use of Electrotherapy.

Sports Rehabilitation and Exercise Therapy

This is used within the Sports Injury treatment plan or separately.

The therapy process employs massage techniques and gradual use of active/passive movement with and without resistance.

Sports Massage

Massage has been around for centuries, however sports massage arose out of a specific need. As well as being an invigorating experience its uses are widespread:

It has Restorative properties in between training sessions and allows the athlete to train harder and longer.

It allows the athlete to prepare in confidence for sporting activity, improving muscle tone and flexibility.

Rehabilitative massage after injury aids quicker recovery and less likelihood of recurrence.

Sports Nutrition

Much neglected by sports people the effect on athletic performance or exercise in general can be devastating.

Advice is provided on a balanced nutritional regime.

This is a thorough consultation taking in such areas as Basal Metabolic Rate and Calorific intake for energy needs.
